Woody Bay Cottage

Woody Bay Cottage is in a peaceful, secluded position at the end of a private road passing through the National Trust Woody Bay Estate, with a path to the beach.  It originally consisted of two cottages, believed to have been built for the lime burners who worked the kilns above the beach.

The cottage is about 4 miles from Lynton which has shops, small restaurants, cafes, a small cinema and the funicular railway to Lynmouth. The Fox and Goose pub in Parracombe and Hunters' Inn in at Heddon Valley, both also about 4 miles from the cottage, serve excellent meals. The stunningly beautiful surrounding Exmoor National Park countryside is excellent for riding, walking and sea and river fishing, and includes the wide, sandy surfing beaches at Woolacombe and Croyde to the west. The project to restore the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway is exciting: based at Woody Bay Station, 2 miles from the cottage.

The five bedrooms are accessed by quite steep staircases, with some low thresholds: (1) spacious double with washbasin, the first floor bathroom being a few steps down; there is a staircase down to the ground floor lobby opening onto the front terrace; (2) further double bedded; (3) twin bedded, leading to (4) single bedded with cot; (5) single room on the ground floor with TV/DVD, three steps up from living room and three steps down from the ground floor bathroom.

The first floor has a bathroom and lavatory wiht a bath with an electric shower over. There is a further separate lavatory with washbasin on this floor.

On the ground floor, up three steps from ground floor bedroom level, is the second bathroom, with bath, hand shower attachment and lavatory. The washing machine and tumble dryer are also in this bathroom.

The sitting room has a low ceiling (6' 6") and an open fire in a stone fireplace. There is a TV/DVD and comfy seating for 6.

The dining room also has a low ceiling, a dining table seating 8, a small, low flap-down table with two infants' school chairs, a woodburning stove and oak furniture.

The kitchen is fully fitted with an electric fan oven, grill and hob, microwave, large fridge/freezer (70/30) and dishwasher. It is well equipped.

Good-sized mature gardens, including small lawn, stone and paved terraces, attractive borders and garden furniture. Wooded hillsides to the rear and side. Ample parking on the road where it ends at the cottage.
