The Area

Woody Bay is at the heart of the Exmoor National Park coastline, with much of it owned by the National Trust. Four miles to the east, approached through the Vally of Rocks, lie the twin townships of Lynton and Lynmouth, joined by the wonderful water-powered funicular railway. The East and West Lyn rivers converge at Watersmeet and flow into the sea at Lynmouth. Above Woody Bay lies stunningly beautiful open countryside, giving way to Exmoor, with every opportunity for walking, observing wildlife, riding and exploring villages and numerous other places of interest.

To the west lie Combe Martin, Ilfracombe, and the huge sandy surfing beaches of Woolacombe and Croyde. The largest town is Barnstaple, 19 miles away.
